Allowances for reservists serving in Israel

The Bitouah Leoumi pays compensation for
reservist to any person called up for a period of
reserve under the Defence Service Act, and any person
called for training according to the law of the
work in emergencies (MALAH).

The Bitouah Leoumi pays a reservist's allowance to anyone called up for a period of reserve duty under the Defense Service Law, and anyone called up for training under the Emergency Labor Service Law (MALAH).
To obtain the allowance, you must provide a certificate from the IDF notifying you of your days of service - form number 3010.

Amount of compensation per day

- For salaried employees and self-employed workers - the gross income for the 3 months preceding the start of service as a reservist, divided by 90. In certain special cases, the reservist is entitled to a calculation based on other months' wages. The allowance will be no less than the minimum rate and no more than the maximum rate (see below).
- Maximum allowance for employees and self-employed workers : January 2016 - 1,441.33 shekels per day, 43,240 shekels per month.
- Minimum allowance for employees and self-employed workers : January 2016 - 196.02 shekels per day, 5,881 shekels per month.
- A person receiving unemployment benefit who leaves as a reservist during a period in which he or she is receiving unemployment benefit, will receive an allowance that will be paid automatically without the need to apply.

Reservist's allowance application

The application for a reservist's allowance must be submitted at the end of the reserve period to one of the Bitouah Leoumi branches of the applicant's choice, together with a Tsahal certificate - form number 3010. The application form can be downloaded from the Bitouah Leoumi website and sent by post or fax.
- Employees with a monthly salary and employees without a monthly salary who have worked for an employer or a certain workplace for at least 75 days in the three months preceding the reserve period will apply to their employer for the allowance.

- A self-employed person, a student, an unemployed person or anyone who is unemployed will file a claim independently with the Bitouah Leoumi.

- A person receiving unemployment benefit who leaves as a reservist during a period in which he or she is receiving unemployment benefit, will receive an allowance that will be paid automatically without the need to apply.

Use of the service is granted by means of a code and password which can be obtained from the website or from the Bitouah Leoumi branch nearest to your home.

The Bitouah Leoumi e provides an automated call center for reservist soldiers filing individual claims, and employers paying the allowance for their employees serving as reservists. The call center provides general information on rights and duties, forms to file, a simulator for calculating the allowance, etc.
